A new wave of modern metal bands have taken form in the past few years, where they have injected youthful energy into an extreme form of heavy metal that had been played for the past two decades. Tonight, Bleed The Sky is one of those bands that is making a name for themselves on the Soulfly tour, and they held their own in front of an eager LA crowd.

The band came out with a vengeance, throwing down lots of thrashy parts that got the crowd moving and rarely a dull moment was felt during their set. Frontman Noah Robinson interacted well with the crowd, regularly pointing out friends and different members of the Soulfly crew that were celebrating birthdays on that day. His interaction got the crowd to respond, and the fact that their fans were also Soulfly fans worked in their favor.

Playing as a four piece, Bleed The Sky sounded strong and very few people noticed they were down a member. Opening with 'Knife Fight In A Phone Booth,' they came out swinging and connected when it mattered most. Robinson's aggressive vocal style enhanced their guitar heavy sound, while his melodic vocals on the choruses helps bring different dynamics to their sound.

Their set list included songs from their debut, which they elmininated the electronics and loaded up on the guitars to blend in well with their newer songs. Their overall sound moves the band away from the groove oriented metalcore style towards a more aggressive, modern thrash sound. The crowd was able to feel more aggression in Bleed The Sky that before.

At the end of their set, Bleed the Sky showed that they have stepped up in a huge way and can hold their own. These guys have a bright future ahead of them and show signs of big things to happen in the near future.
