nice music, now shut up about politics
A review of Tegan and Sara posted by teganatesara on October 26, 2008 10:57 PM
When: Oct 19, 2008 Venue: The Fonda Where: Los Angeles I'm a huge fan of Tegan and Sara so it'd be great if they'd shut the fuck up about the state of politics in my country and sing a couple of tunes, get on the tour bus, go to the next town. But somewhere along the way in their short careers, they've confused performing and giving a state of the Union address. All things considered, I should be writing a glittering review. 1. Good crowd: the crowd was a little too exactly like Tegan and Sara (hero-worship is one thing but 800 identikits is something else) but was really up for it. 2. Great opening acts: Girl in a Coma opened -- I think they are from texas. They were great, really, really great. A dude played and then Tegan and Sara. 3. Great venue: the Fonda is an awesome venue (mega-stars for the Fonda every time). 4. Great songs: Back In Your Head, The Con, So Jealous (so glad they played it). it all should have added up to a fantastic night at the Fonda. But remember Tegan & Sara are quintessentially mindless girl rock which is why I love them. So I don't need (or want) a mindless diatribe about Palin, Prop 8, whatever stuff comes into their mind... it stops being fun really quickly. Because although I basically agree with them on Palin, prop 8 etc. they don't really know what they're talking about and more importantly it's not why I want to see them. If I want to go to a policitical rally, I will go see an informed political analalyst or politician (or maybe Rage Against the Machine). But I don't need tegan and Sara bumming me out for an evening with mindless rambling about the qualifications or lack thereof of Sara Palin. There I said it... pics borrowed from artistdirect
