when a concert sort of sucks

i got to start by saying i'm no die-hard dave matthews fan but i can listen to it. but i go to a lot of concerts and when a last minute chance to see the dmb at the bowl came up i went along figuring it'd be a fun way to blow an evening.

the evening just blew for me and i think its because DMB shows are meant for die-hard fans only. don't get me wrong -- the band did their stuff well and with the sort of aplomb you'd expect from a band with the size of following.

but it's hard to screw up a gig at the bowl -- it's the bowl for god's sake! but dave matthews on this evening attracted what was for my money the highest concentration of jerks ever gathered together in LA for 2 hours. which is saying something. i don't know whether these were the worst tourists LA could attract from inland empire or oc or what but they missed the point.... the bowl can have perfect acoustics if you'd shut the f*** up and listen for a change. if you want to sing along at full blast to every single song, take a shower or a long car-drive. if you are going to a concert, try to pace yourself so that the evening has build-ups and stuff... you know, the foreplay, the things that make a concert fun! let the band do their thing and try listening for a change.

also, i think i was bummed that i did not go the following night when DMB did some duets with john mayer and ziggy marley. if anyone saw that show, please post pics and stuff.
