There is a certain amount of excitement in discovering brand new talent that is playing on the local scene of any town. Choleric is one of the rising acts that is playing in Los Angeles and are slowly building a name for themselves. Despite getting the early opening slot tonight, they came out strong and got the show brewing with the rock.
Choleric's sound is modern rock, with equal parts melody and a strong guitar presence, and a groove that makes their sound stand out. Frontman Luca's voice is deep yet powerful, but does not fall prey to comparisons to other singers. Guitarist Corey Katouli and bassist Marcello Dias both provide powerful melodies, as well as the rhythms that makes their music comes across well. Drummer Josh Villalta is simply hammering away on the drums throughout their set. Each member of the band works well together, making them a cohesive unit that is not always found in many bands.
Despite their short set, Choleric's set was brief yet strong. This band showed lots of promise and a good possibility that the world will be hearing a lot more from them in the coming months. Considering where the state of rock music stands today, Choleric could give a pointer or two on how hard work and dedication will guide them towards bigger things.
