Why?

from London with edits ...yes, i missed the electric picnic but i think a proper Orbital Dublin show will happen. Come on lads -- it costs nothing unless the show happens -- I've bid and so can you!
********************************
For 15 years, Paul and Phil Hartnolls were for most of us the undisputed kings of electronic music. It started with Chime back in 1989 and, while that track put them firmly in the center of the rave scene, their sound evolved pretty rapidly with little nods to experimental musicians of earlier years but with its a distinctive and luscious flavor.

And then there were the Orbital live sets. Back then, electronic music almost always meant a DJ. Orbital changed all that by bringing what equipment they could on the road and manning the sound mixers themselves. Their seminal 1994 Glastonbury appearance is often hailed as a landmark in electronic music but the truth is that the 1994 show is symbolic of 15 years of great live music. It was a watershed moment for a genre finding itself but it was a typically great Orbital show.

Q Magazine called the band one of 50 Bands to See Before You Die. I'd say they'd make my top 5 easy! They are that infectious and incredible live. Surrounded by banks of synths, hardware, and software and with their bobbing lights atop their heads, the brothers are unmistakable and awe-inspiring.

As the folks stateside said:
"They are it. The total bomb. They set the standard, raised it many times, showed that electronic music live could be a serious show, and pulled a whole genre up to a level where it was was accepted as more than a drug-culture spin-off. I love the Hartnolls."

I've followed both brothers post-Orbital stuff and love it. But 5 years following the brothers calling it a day, I think another day in the park.
