Why?
i was going to try to be all fateful and stuff and wait until November 4 before posting this event. but some lesser fan (YES!, there is a hierarchy of devoted fans and it is generally inversely proportional to income and directly proportional to happiness -- better be in latter case!) might have posted a lesser reason for the gig and that wouldn't do. so i've thrown date BS to the wind and am telling everyone why this would be amazing.
On November 4, 2002, Fugazi wrapped up a short 3-date UK tour with a gig at the The Forum in London. I wasn't there -- i was in santa monica being inspired by Fugazi. after the show, the band went to hiatus to take care of living, families, other stuff besides being an incredibly inspiring group.
and like the DC fan (fugaziest), i am waiting. the Fugazi crew would not approve of me waiting but i'm still being inspired... t the thing is that it's while being inspired, i think it's ok to wait and wish. part of the inspiration fugazi brings is the hope that they'll do another show. not to revisit the earlier days but to visit the now... in an age where kids are baited into a disney alter-ego world of hannah montana, the activisit nowism of fugazi is a breath of fresh air.
so this is not an effort to revisit 1999 or 1996 199anything. it's just the most NOW band getting together for a now show... in Los Angeles preferrably because plane tickets are crazy expensive and blow.
