Added text Removed text |
Fronted inFounded in 1987 by former Minor Threat frontman, Ian Mackaye, Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty in Washington DC band, Fugazi were a leading band during the 1990's. Fugazi's music is released by Dischord Records. The band has been on hiatus since 2002 and all four members are still very close friends. The band is known both for genre-defying music as well as sincere commitment to community activism and a DIY attitude that provided stark contract to the normal management of major performing artists. During their existence, the four-piece created some of the most intelligent, invigorating, and undeniably musical post-hardcore rock & roll. Along with their stridently underground ethics -- which were more out of pragmatism and modesty than anything else -- they gained an extremely loyal and numerous global following.
